Hi! I found this place on a search engine, so please post answers to my e-mail, ocean@visi.comI have 3.3 acres of land, all weedy. I'm going to be building shortly. I need a small tractor that can till, throw snow, and mow. I'm looking to spend as little as possible, which I'm thinking might be around $5000. I tried looking at places like Sears, but they all have mow parts and maybe a snow throw attachment-but no till. I don't want to just strip the land, as that will suck off the valuable nutrients in the weeds, plus I'd like to till in some additives, a friend suggested peat moss. I hope this is the right forum for such a question, and I beg pardon if it's not.Thank you,Michael Porterocean@visi.com

Michael. You might get a real jump start on you search for info concerning the type and and size tractor you'll need on your building site if you'll check out this website.http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/kb13/TF_home.htm#anchor468135After you surf that site, come on back and ask a bunch of questions. :)As far as whice soil amendments you'll need to add,(organics/inorganics)for the purpose of building and maintaining the soil will depend largely on the type and condition the soil is in and what the soil PH factor is.I personally like tilling in composted leaves and grass clippings. Old straw and manure work great too..But unless you have trees and save the grass clipping or have animal bedding/manure on site or close by, the organics might not work out for your site I suggest you pick up bagged leaves in wooed areas of town next fall and haul them to your site and mix the yard clipping you can save with them and start a compost pileThis is kind of like work..have funSkillet ....

Try going to http://www.gardenweb.com/forums/mowers/ and reading the posts there--most of them address garden tractors, which sounds like what you might need. ....
